Revision of the mandate of the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA)
The ERA is a key contributor to a sustainable, safe European transport system without frontiers. It issues single safety certificates to railway undertakings, vehicle authorisations and ERTMS track-side equipment approval.
This initiative seeks to update the Agency’s tasks to take account of:
- the ERA’s growing role in safety and interoperability
- developments in the legislative landscape since 2016
- the 2023 Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) package.
