EU emissions trading system – countries considered to be applying CORSIA in 2025
EU rules on an emissions trading system (the ETS Directive) implement appropriately the carbon offsetting scheme (‘CORSIA’) set up by the International Civil Aviation Organization for airlines based in the EU and EEA countries.
The Commission must adopt acts every year listing countries other than EU/EEA countries, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, that are considered to be applying CORSIA.
This list for 2025 will be used to calculate the CORSIA offsetting required from airlines under the Directive.
