Plants obtained by new genomic techniques: applications for category 2 plants and their products
This initiative implements Regulation (EU) 2026/1388 on plants produced by certain new genomic techniques (NGTs). It specifies the information required for the risk assessment and authorisation of category 2 NGT plants and products before their environmental release or they are placed on the market.
The purpose is to provide clarity and predictability for operators on how to prepare notifications or applications for category 2 NGT plants and products. It will also support Member States and EFSA in implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1388.
