Bakgrunn

(1) The format of the ready for recycling certificate is set out in Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/2321. It was developed to be consistent with Appendix 4 to the International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships adopted in Hong Kong on 15 May 2009 (the ‘Hong Kong Convention’).
(2) Following the entry into force of the Hong Kong Convention on 26 June 2025, it should be ensured that the format of the ready for recycling certificate issued under Regulation (EU) No 1257/2013 can be used both under the Hong Kong Convention and under Regulation (EU) No 1257/2013 for legal certainty and administrative simplification.
(3) The measures provided for in this Decision are in accordance with the opinion of the committee established by Article 25 of Regulation (EU) No 1257/2013,
