EU aluminium sector – trade measures to ensure sufficient availability of aluminium scrap on the EU market
The initiative aims to tackle the problem of insufficient availability and affordability of secondary raw materials for the aluminium sector.
The proposal implements the Commission’s commitments to:
- consider trade measures on exports of aluminium scrap as set out in the Steel and Metals Action Plan adopted in March 2025
- propose targeted measures on aluminium scrap in spring 2026 as set out in the RESourceEU Action Plan.
