Artkkel 2

I denne avtale menes med

a) «avtale»: avtalens hoveddel, dens protokoller og vedlegg samt de rettsakter som er omhandlet i dem,

b) «EFTA-stater»: Island, Fyrstedømmet Liechtenstein, Kongeriket Norge,

c) «avtaleparter», når det gjelder Fellesskapet og EFs medlemsstater: Fellesskapet og EFs medlemsstater, eller Fellesskapet eller EFs medlemsstater. Betydningen som skal legges i betegnelsen i det enkelte tilfelle, må utledes fra de aktuelle bestemmelser i denne avtale og fra den myndighet som er tillagt henholdsvis Fellesskapet og EFs medlemsstater slik den fremgår av Traktaten om opprettelse av Det europeiske økonomiske fellesskap.

d) «tiltredelsesakten av 16 april 2003:» Akten om tiltredelsesvilkårene for Den tsjekkiske republikken, Republikken Estland, Republikken Kypros, Republikken Latvia, Republikken Litauen, Republikken Ungarn, Republikken Malta, Republikken Polen, Republikken Slovenia og Den slovakiske republikken og tilpasningen av de traktater som er Den europeiske unions grunnlag, vedtatt i Aten 16 april 2003.

e) «tiltredelsesakten av 25 april 2005»: Akten om tiltredelsesvilkårene for Republikken Bulgaria og Romania og tilpasningen av de traktater som er Den europeiske unions grunnlag, vedtatt i Luxembourg 25 april 2005,

f) «tiltredelsesprotokollen av 25 april 2005»: Protokollen om vilkår og bestemmelser for Republikken Bulgarias og Romanias tiltredelse til Den europeiske union, vedtatt i Luxembourg 25 april 2005.

Article 2

For the purposes of this Agreement :

(a) the term "Agreement" means the main Agreement, its Protocols and Annexes as well as the acts referred to therein;

(b) the term "EFTA States" means the Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Kingdom of Norway;

(c) the term "Contracting Parties" means, concerning the Community and the EC Member States, the Community and the EC Member States, or the Community, or the EC Member States. The meaning to be attributed to this expression in each case is to be deduced from the relevant provisions of this Agreement and from the respective competences of the Community and the EC Member States as they follow from the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community;

(d) the term "Act of Accession of 16 April 2003" shall mean the Act concerning the conditions of Accession of the Czech Republic, the Republic of Estonia, the Republic of Cyprus, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Hungary, the Republic of Malta, the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovak Republic and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the European Union is founded, adopted in Athens on 16 April 2003;

(e) the term "Act of Accession of 25 April 2005" shall mean the Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the European Union is founded, adopted in Luxembourg on 25 April 2005;

(f) the term "Protocol of Accession of 25 April 2005" shall mean the Protocol concerning the conditions and arrangements for admission of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union, adopted in Luxembourg on 25 April 2005.
