About this consultation
Feedback period
06 July 2020 - 09 November 2020 (midnight Brussels time)
Target audience
All stakeholders are welcome to contribute. To be more specific, the stakeholder groups whose views are sought through this public consultation are listed below. The views of every stakeholder group are important to support the evaluation and a possible review of the current Euro 6/VI emission standards for cars, vans, lorries and buses.
- Member States and national authorities, including those responsible for approval, at different governance levels (national, regional and local);
- Automotive industry: Businesses, including supply chain, and associations active in the car, van, lorry or bus industry;
- Consumer organisations;
- Environmental NGOs;
- Other stakeholders (e.g. research community, international organization);
- Citizens.
Why we are consulting
With the European Green Deal, the Commission has set out a new growth strategy that will foster the transition to a climate-neutral, resource-efficient, competitive and zero-pollution economy in Europe. To accelerate the shift to sustainable and smart mobility, transport should become considerably less polluting, especially in cities. To this end, the Commission launched preparatory work in order to support the evaluation and a possible review of the current Euro 6/VI emission standards framework for cars, vans, lorries and buses. The purpose of the public consultation is to collect factual information, views, opinions and experiences from a broad range of stakeholders and citizens. That way, precious insight to the implementation of the current Euro 6/VI emission standards and potential policy options regarding a post-Euro 6/VI initiative can be provided.
