Emissions reporting – implementing act on templates for reporting methane emissions in the energy sector
This initiative lays down detailed rules on a template for the reports on methane emissions to be provided by oil, gas and coal operators. It follows on from Regulation (EU) 2024/1787, which aims to reduce the energy sector's methane emissions in the EU and globally. Under the Regulation, EU oil, gas and coal operators are required to measure and report annual methane emissions data, to conduct regular leak detection and repair surveys and to limit venting and flaring of methane.
