Harmonised indices of consumer prices – common conditions for introducing new methods or new data sources
Introducing a new method or a new data source to calculate the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) can lead to an upwards or downwards shift in the HICP index series if the standard calculation method is used. Such shifts can create issues if the index is used to adjust pensions, rents, wages, etc.
This initiative will provide common conditions to adjust the HICP to correct for these shifts.
